Sigma will be announcing the 70-200 f/2.8 for the Sony E-mount by the end of October according to Sony Alpha Rumors. Andrea, says that it “looks like we might get an affordable alternative to the super expensive Sony 70-200mm GM II”. A streaming event is planning for October 6, 2023, but has not been announced.
Sigma continues to build out the E mount for Sony with highly desired focal lengths and wide open apertures. An affordable 70-200 f2.8 appeals to many customers, and not just Sony. I'm sure that Canon customers would appreciate an affordable RF 70-200 f2.8, but Canon is reluctant to approve either Sigma or Tamron lenses.
