In a recent interview with Imaging-resource.com, ON System's Imaging director for the Global Marketing department, Yoshiyuki Nada, said that the OM-1 had strong sales,

“As far as we are concerned, the sales of OM-1 are going well as planned, which is the main factor in our strong performance.”

When asked about a successor to the E-M1X, Nada-san said

“The E-M1X was designed to ensure that the operability of the camera remains the same in both vertical and horizontal positions. It is not a body that is simply designed to have a larger grip. We are aware that there are users who desire such a body, and we are continuing to study the possibility.”

Nada-san went further saying ,”Actually, the OM-1 is the successor to the E-M1 Mark III.”

For those interested in the status of the PEN series,

“Regarding the design of the PEN series, we believe that there is a demand, but the demand for “entry-level” models has dropped significantly in the overall market trend. In this sense, we believe that this is something to consider in the context of the entire product lineup, not just the PEN series, as you have indicated.”
