20+ years in the photography industry. I have attempted to do it all, and succeeded at none of it. In the end I am a photography and camera gear nerd.
Canon will likely announce the follow-up to the popular Canon EOS R5 in February of 2024. Specific dealers have been told that February will bring a major camera announcement, which is the same month as the CP+ show in Japan. Dealer NDA’s have not been signed for the announcement, as it is still too early, but Canon is gearing up for a major high-end push in 2024 and they are getting dealers prepared. This is also the time of year when dealers have finalised their holiday buys, especially ahead of Black Friday in November and Christmas season in December. So…
The Canon RF 35mm f/1.2L USM will likely be the biggest selling L-prime lens when it eventually hits the market. This lens has been rumoured and expected since the RF mount launched 5 years ago. A sales rep that handles some distribution of Canon lenses to certain retailers in a specific country has alluded to the RF 35mm f/1.2L USM, and went as far to say that two versions of this prime lens will be announced before the end of 2023. There are two versions of the RF 85mm f/1.2L USM. Of the two you can spend an extra couple…
The Canon EOS R5 Mark II will surely be the most popular Canon camera release of 2024 and it will be bringing new features and accessories. It is now being said that the Canon EOS R5 Mark II will have a built-in ND filter, which is one of the more requested features that people would like to see in Canon EOS R bodies. The Canon EOS R5 Mark II will also obviously get the latest flash shoe, but I have also heard that there will be other new accessories for the camera. One of which will help deal with heat…
These claimed specifications for the Canon EOS R5 Mark II reportedly come from an internal sales meeting for with a large retailer. Confirmation of these specifications aren’t possible at this time. I was told that we could expect more information in the coming days/weeks. To me, it seems a bit early for specifications, but there have been many reports that the EOS R5 Mark II is currently being tested by photographers. Rumored Canon EOS R5 Mark II Specifications 62mp Stacked CMOS Image Sensor Variable resolution of 62mp, 31mp, 15.5mp 8K recording up to 60fps internally 4K recording up to 120fps…
This time of year leading up to Christmas always has a lot of announcements from all of the camera manufacturers, and Canon will be no different. Multiple people that we talk to have told us that we’ll see announcements in late September, and they will be for new RF and RF-S lenses. No one knew if a camera announcement was possible, so that likely means there won’t be. These things can change quickly as more people are spun into the loop. We hope to see a fast wide-angle L prime announced, as it feels long overdue.
As we all know, the Canon EOS R5 sports a 45mp image sensor, which is perfect for 8K video and a nice amount of data for photographers. Through some industry people, we have found out that it is very likely that the EOS R5 Mark II will get a resolution bump to 60mp, which seems to be a resolution embraced by other brands already. Reports suggest that the camera is already in the hands of the usual early testers as Canon works to refine the camera. The same sources said that the R52 will also have the capability of shooting…
Canon has announced the new RF 100-300mm f/2.8L IS USM, an all-new design by Canon. This new lens will be targeted at photojournalists, wedding photographers and sports photographers. The RF 100-300mm f/2.8L IS USM is a nice mix of relatively light-weight, the fast autofocus performance with the Canon EOS R3, and terrific optical performance that will rival the 300mm f/2.8 prime lenses during the EF generation. “Exceeding the reach and potential of traditional 70-200mm lenses, and adding zoom flexibility to its Canon EF 300mm f/2.8L IS predecessor, the RF100-300mm F2.8 L IS USM lens brings new value to customers,” The…

According to Canon Rumors, this lens, the first of its kind from Canon, will be extremely light weight for what it is. Canon usually announces things near the beginning of the week, so expect to see this lens announced later today or tomorrow.
