Canon rumors published a story stating that “Canon is planning a second RF mount f/2 zoom to compliment the remarkable RF 28-70mm f/2L USM”. However, no specifications were provided. The lens is expected in the first half of 2024, and while an exciting prospect, many are still waiting patiently for the RF 35mm f1.2. While we have not received any mention of the elusive 35mm f1.2, we are betting that it could be announced alongside the EOS R5 Mark II.
While much of the supply chain has returned to normal, we are still seeing some delays as was reported with he new Rf 100-300 f2.8 L, which is expected to be in short supply for the rest of the year. Canon did not expect as much demand for the lens as was received.
As far as the rest of 2023, Canon Rumors thinks we could see 2-3 lenses. This is largely dependant on what canon choses to announcement or refresh in the fall. The EOS R5 Mark II and EOS r1 will be announced with some lenses, but both are expected to ship in 2024.
