What's Hot

People are eagerly waiting for Sigma and Tamron to start producing RF glass, and according to Canon Rumors, an announcement may come as early as the fall. Sigma RF glass would fill the gap for mid-level glass that Canon is not producing. Canon is focused on kit lenses and high-end RF L series glass.

An unknown source has reached out a couple of times about this topic and seem pretty confident that it will happen in the next 6-8 months. The source claims two lenses would initially be a launched, a midrange fast prime lens and a zoom lens of some kind.” — Craig Blair, Canon Rumours

No mention which lenses would be announced. We at TCI would love to see the RF 150-600mm as Canon doesn't have anything affordable with a variable aperture. However, Canon Rumors thinks the following lenses will be announced first:

    • Sigma 50mm f/1.4
    • Sigma 17-50mm f/2.8 OS DC

The Canon RF 50mm f/1.2 L IS USM is a solid lens with very good sharpness that takes advantage of the high resolution EOS R5, so the Sigma RF 50mm f/1.4 would be a welcomed much more affordable alternative for those unable to pay for Canon's high-end 50mm f1.2.

Sadly, Canon Rumors says that “This information comes from an unknown source.” If this is true, we should hear something in the September to October timeframe.
